The Cheslatta Carrier Nation remains neutral in its position on the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline project.

We want to make it clear that Cheslatta Carrier Nation have always maintained and continue to hold, a neutral position on Enbridge’s proposed Northern Gateway pipeline project.

The proposed pipeline route lies outside of Cheslatta traditional territory and although members of the Cheslatta Carrier Nation have provided chief and council with a written mandate to participate fully in a review of the proposed project, they have been clear that they will wait until the environmental review process is complete, before making any decisions on whether they will support or oppose the project.

Our community members have been clear that any mandate regarding the proposed Enbridge pipeline project does not infer support or opposition for the project.

We think that it is crucial that we examine all aspects of the proposed project.

We intend to monitor the regulatory review process closely before we make any decisions.

At the same time, we fully respect any position that other communities have taken at this time regarding support or opposition to the project.
