We should listen to all on pipeline

Regarding discussions of the proposed pipeline from the Alberta tar sands across northern B.C., there is much to consider.

Dear Editor:

Regarding discussions of the proposed pipeline from the Alberta tar sands across northern B.C., there is much to consider.

A long pipeline, difficult terrain and challenging coastal waters for the huge tankers make these hearings extremely important.

Salmon are vital to the whole west coast ecology.

Bears require them for pre-hibernation food. The coastal forest is enhanced by the nitrogen from bear feces and leftovers. Eagles, seagulls, crabs and a host of other life depend on salmon.

Humans too have a large economic and nutritional interest in a healthy salmon population.

Just one spill along the pipeline or one shipwreck would cause untold damage to many species.

So it is most important that we listen carefully to everyone speaking to this topic.

Stephen Harper welcomes foreign investment.

He should also be ready to listen to foreign speakers and cease belittling their concerns and rights.
