Whew! Well I do believe we (the community) have done it again… I heard nothing but great comments from our visitors last weekend.The women curlers and the pond hockey players that visited our valley were very impressed and I heard lots of people say they can’t wait for next year to do it all again.
As a matter of fact, I had promises from a few people that I’d be seeing them again within a few weeks. “People are so friendly here,” said one of the visitors I talked to, “you just don’t see this in the city.”
One of our residents, who wished to remain nameless, went above and beyond offering a ride to another business that was about to close in order for a visitor to purchase an item that wasn’t available elsewhere.
Not only did that resident do a nice thing, the story was told far and wide about the gesture making everyone feel good about this community.
It’s the little things that go so far in creating a reputation for a great place to spend time in.
As I’m reading the pages of this issue prior to going to press I keep running across other ‘good host’ stories. Copper Point Resort has earned a couple of customer service and sales awards at the Tommie Awards in Kelowna. I’m sure there are people that attended that function now thinking about spending some of their vacation time here in order to enjoy that service.
The final comment in the story about the Daily Planet‘s visit last week says that the participants are planning their vacations here too.
As a player in the BC Senior Ladies Curling Championships next week, I’m excited to further promote this area as a great destination. We’ve received some tremendous support from local businesses — Fitz Flooring has purchased new jackets for the team, area golf courses have provided gifts for exchange with other participants and Copper Point Resort and Copper Point Golf Club have joined together to create a fantastic getaway that we will give to one lucky participant.
It’s a recurring theme, we have the natural beauty, the personality and the spirit – we know it, let’s all continue to work together to show the world!
