It’s Stampede time again and I couldn’t be more excited for this year’s celebrations!
The 85th Williams Lake Stampede kicks off this Thursday and promises to be one of the very best yet.
We’ve got some of the top rodeo contenders from Canada and the United States competing this year, and I urge everyone to check out the always exciting bull riding.
Since 1926 the Williams Lake Stampede has attracted participants and spectators from all walks of life and has something to offer everyone. There are many events for the whole family to enjoy such as kids night on Thursday, the barn dance on Saturday night, and live music on both Saturday and Sunday.
If you’re visiting be sure to further explore one of B.C.’s most beautiful areas, as the Cariboo offers endless recreational entertainment. Home to the Cariboo Gold Rush, stunning landscapes, cowboys, cattle ranching and world-class fishing, there’s beauty and adventure tucked into every corner of our peaceful region. Be sure to get out and discover more.
The Williams Lake Stampede is a true reflection of our vibrant culture here in the Cariboo and a testament to how much fun we can have together when we work cooperatively. Every year when I walk through the Stampede Grounds I marvel at how seamlessly everything is organized, and nearly every aspect of the Stampede is volunteer run.
I wanted to take this opportunity to give a heartfelt thanks to all of those volunteers.
It is their hard work and dedication that makes this event the raving success it always is. From the kick-off parade and pancake breakfast to the ticket counters and even the rodeo, none of it would be possible without the support of our enthusiastic volunteers.
I’d also like to thank Williams Lake Stampede president Fred Thomas, the board of directors, the City of Williams Lake and everyone who participates in this wonderful event for helping celebrate our diverse culture and love of the rodeo. Thank you and let’s have some fun!
