You stole more than just things, but I forgive you

Among other things, you took mementos of precious moments and people in my life

To those who robbed my home:

Among other things, you took mementos of precious moments and people in my life:

• My deceased father’s wedding ring: scratched and worn thin through daily wear, it reminded me of the value of commitment through all of life’s challenges.

• My husband’s grandfather’s pocket watch: though in disrepair, it represented times shared between grandson and grandfather.

• The bracelet my husband had made for me to commemorate each of our sons births.

• The earrings I wore on my wedding day over 28 years ago.

• My wedding ring: when I looked upon it, I considered the love that I have shared with my husband and the family we have made together.

• Three rings from my father: one for each of our sons which were to be a lasting reminder of the fortitude and resilience of an immigrant from war torn lands.

• Two rings from my mother, which were proudly worn on special occasions as a way of giving thanks for her blessings and triumphs.

Although I am saddened by the loss of these items, I feel sorrow for the state that you must be in to commit this theft. I pray that you would be made aware that there is hope and help for you.

I forgive you.
