I would like to address a letter to stratas in Chilliwack. I am currently looking for a condo or townhouse for my daughter and I, and am completely blown away with the age restrictions. Over 90 per cent of available units with more than 1,000 sq. feet are age-restricted. I find this very rude. How come anyone over 45 years of age is allowed to have a large living area, yet those with children are secluded to under 1,000 sq. feet? You will notice that these age restricted buildings sit on the market for a very long time. Remember that every month it sits on the market you lose out of maintenance/strata fees.
Perhaps it’s time to vote that ridiculous bylaw out, and stop discriminating against young families and single mothers.
