Spirits were high and so was participation at the South End Cross Country Run on Oct. 6 at the 99 Mile ski trails.
A total of 220 local elementary school students from Grades 3 to 7 competed in what was their first interschool event of the year.
In the large school category, 100 Mile House Elementary School ran away with the overall team first-place Golden Running Shoe Trophy, extending its two-year domination to three.
Mile 108 Elementary (108) placed second and third place went to Horse Lake Elementary (HL).
The small school winner was Bridge Lake Elementary, followed by Buffalo Creek Elementary in second place and Forest Grove Elementary (FG) in third place.
Race distances were one kilometre for Grade 3 participants; 1.75 km for Grades 4 and 5; and 2.5 km for Grades 6 and 7.
