More than 300 entrants will compete in the National 3D Archery Championships this weekend at Silver Star Mountain Resort.
Often called “redneck golf,” the goal of 3D archery is to gain points by hitting various animal-shaped targets close to life size.
Archers guess how far away the target is and where to shoot to achieve the highest possible score.
Organizer/archer Kevin Reimer of Enderby said there will be athletes aged six to 70-something. Targets will be set up all over the mountain, including near the top of the green chair.
Reimer’s wife Christine, and daughters, Shelby and Téa, will represent Team B.C. Logan Meier of Vernon, a former national champion, will also shoot. Several area fish and game clubs are helping put on the event.
Action goes Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Spectators are welcome.
