The Terrace Bluebacks’ swim club hosts the Northwest Regional Championships, taking second over all, with five swimmers qualifying for provincials.

The Terrace Peaks gymnastics club jumps into its competition season with the Terrace Peaks Invitational, which draws 78 competitors taking part in 12 different events.

Jacqueline Lenuik, a former Terrace skate club member, performs on the national stage, skating at the Canadian Nationals Jan. 21 – 23, taking 18th place in the senior ladies division.

The 56th annual Legion Bonspiel takes place at the Terrace Curling Rink, hosting 96 curlers in 24 teams from across the northwest.

The Timber Baron Old Timers tournament sees a record number of teams from the northwest as a total of 33 games are played by 21 teams.

February

Two local ringette players are chosen to join Team BC at the 2011 Canada Winter Games.

Rylee English and Kristen Tooms both get ready to make the trip to Halifax to represent the province.

Terrace’s Peewee girls team triumph down south with a tournament win in Penticton.

The team played five games over the weekend and won every one of them.

Senior boys in Terrace gain one more sport to take part in with the formation of a senior boys rugby team.

Organized by local RCMP officers, and led by head coach Sean Hall, the ‘Bears’ charge off into a strong season, strengthening  high-school rugby in the northwest.

Two Terrace Bluebacks swim their way to provincials, and do not return home empty-handed.

Anke de Wit and Brittney Alfred both attend the BC AA Championships in Chilliwack, and win themselves a silver medal and a 7th place finish.

The Skeena Grade 8 girls team perfects an undefeated season by sweeping the northwest zone title in Terrace.

Both of Terrace’s bantam and peewee rep hockey teams go to zones, and both teams take the title of northwest zone champions.

Terrace Peaks gymnastics club is once again offering competitive training to boys after a near 15-year hiatus.

Nine male gymnasts meet twice a week for training sessions with coach, Lorraine Tomaz.
