Twenty-five years ago, Hanzawa was a 12-year-old athlete attending an international gymnastics competition in Port Alberni, where he met fellow gymnast and now PAGA head coach Karen Moss. Last week Hanzawa brought 10 gymnasts from Japan so they could meet their Port Alberni counterparts, above, and share in some friendly sporting competition and some home culture.
