Five Abbotsford high school basketball players get a chance to show off their skills against the best in the province on Saturday.

W.J. Mouat‘s Kenan Hadzovic, Rick Hansen‘s Josh Dhillon and Aman Dhillon, Robert Bateman‘s Nate Friesen and Abbotsford Christian‘s Justin Van Dorp have all been selected to play at the B.C. high school senior boys basketball all-star game in Richmond on Saturday.

The event features teams made up of all four tiers of basketball in the province, with the 1A all-stars battling the 2A all-stars at 5 p.m. The 3A team takes on the 4A team at 7:30 p.m. Also scheduled is a three-point contest at 2:15 p.m. and a slam dunk contest at 3:15 p.m.

Van Dorp is the lone Abbotsford player competing in the 1A/2A game. He helped the ACS Knights finish tenth in the province at the 2A provincial championships in March.

Hansen’s Josh and Aman Dhillon will suit up with Bateman’s Friesen on the 3A team. The Dhillon boys helped Hansen win its first ever 3A provincial title in March. Josh earned most valuable player honours at the tournament, while Aman was named a second team tournament all-star. Friesen led the Batman Timberwolves to an eighth place finish in the 3A tournament, and was also named a second team all-star.

Hansen championship coach Steve Twele will be coaching the 3A team at the event.

Hadzovic helped guide the Mouat Hawks to sixth place in the province, and is the lone Abbotsford player on the 4A all-star team. He earned a second team all-star nod at the provincials in March.
