The Abbotsford Junior Cardinals have the chance to follow in their parent club’s footsteps starting today (Friday).
Abbotsford opens against the Okanagan Junior Athletics today at 4:15 p.m. in Surrey at the British Columbia Junior Premier Baseball League‘s final four tournament, with the champion being crowned on Sunday.
The Cardinals are coming off of a regular season that saw the club finish first overall in the PCJPBL, with a record of 31 wins and nine losses.
Abbotsford advanced to the final four by eliminating the North Delta Blue Jays in three games on July 28. Along with Abbotsford and Okanagan, the North Shore Twins and the host Whalley Chiefs are also competing at the event.
The Cardinals take on Okanagan this afternoon, and then square off against the Chiefs tonight at 7 p.m. Abbotsford concludes the round robin portion of the final four agains the Twins on Saturday at 4 p.m. Final games for the tournament occur on Sunday.
If the Cardinals can pull off the win, it would be the first time that both the Junior and Senior teams have won league championships.
