Abbotsford players set for ABC Border Bowl

A handful of Abbotsford football players are set to battle against the best in Alberta at the ABC Border Bowl at the end of the month.

A handful of Abbotsford football players are set to battle against the best in Alberta at the ABC Border Bowl at the end of the month.

A handful of Abbotsford football players are set to represent British Columbia at the annual ABC Border Bowl in Vernon on May 28.

The game features the best young talent in B.C. and Alberta squaring off in four different age groups.

The day opens with the Young Stars from Grades 6 and 7 at 10 a.m. and the Future Stars from Grades 8 and 9 at 12:30 p.m. The Rising Selects from Grades 9 and 10 kick off at 3:30 p.m., and the day ends off with the Rising Stars from Grades 10 and 11 squaring off.

Players heading to the game include: Young Stars Lennon Sharpe and Haidyn Vermeulen; Future Stars Ebiye Okoko Chomseng, Mufeed Romaya, Evan Roy, Elijah Radke, Blake Neufeld and William Taggart; Rising Selects Jacob Macri, Darius Penner, Ethan Lang, Jeffrey Vanderwerff and Michael Shears; and Rising Stars Anthony Phan, Taylor Mante, Sahil Sahota, Austin Balzer and Nathan Frenette.

The teams will be in Abbotsford at Mouat turf field on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for practice sessions. The games are all streamed live at vbnsports.com. For more information on the games, visit twitter.com/BCBorderBowls.
