Nick Taylor’s first appearance at the Masters was a memorable one.
The Abbotsford native made the cut after the first two days and went on to finish tied for 29th overall at the 84th edition of the event held in Augusta, Ga.
Taylor shot even par (72) on Thursday and Friday to make the cut and then had his best day in round three on Saturday. The Ledgeview Golf and Country club product shot a -3 (69) and collected an impressive six birdies to finished tied for fourth overall on that day.
He finished the tournament up on Sunday shooting another day of even par to end the event with a -3 overall. He earned $81,650 for his finish. Taylor said he enjoyed his experience at the event.
“I feel like I got better every day,” he said, after Sunday’s final round. “Leaving Friday night I thought I was more likely to miss [the cut] than make it so I was really happy to make the cut.”
He added that it was a thrill to play with Canadian golf legend Mike Weir, who won the Masters back in 2003.
“Overall it was an amazing experience,” he said, noting he wants to return for the full Masters experience. “I loved every second of it, it was awesome.”
Nick Taylor's first Masters now wrapped. Well done by the two-time @PGATOUR winner who finishes at 3-under for the week and got to play all four rounds.
Hopefully he gets to return for a 'normal' Masters week and celebrate with his family, friends, and inner circle at Augusta.
