Handful of local athletes take home hardware from Penticton event

Abbotsford athletes thrived at the Penticton BC Winter Games, which ran from Thursday to Sunday in the Okanagan.

Dozens of locals made the trip, and those earning medals included:

Ethan Algra, biathlon: gold in sprint boys junior and gold in super sprint boys junior.

Michael Frew, gymnastics: gold in rings male level three, gold in all-around male level three, silver in horizontal bar male level three, silver in pommel horse male level three, silver in gymnastics floor exercise male level three and bronze in parallel bars male level three.

Logan Isfeld, gymnastics: gold in parallel bars level three.

Isabelle Harris, judo: gold in under 63 kilograms women

Jeremy Filiatrault, gymnastics: bronze in gymnastics rings male level three

Turner Cyr, judo: bronze in under 55 kg men

Karissa Comeau, judo: bronze in under 52 kg women

Winning medals as part of a team were:

Frew and Filiatrault, gymnastics: gold in male division

Carlos Perez and Ben Garrett, wheelchair basketball: gold in mixed division

Cyr, Comeau, Mintaj Brar and Payton Harris, judo: silver in mixed division

Kim Bonneau, curling: bronze in girls division
