Team B.C. is looking for athletes for volleyball and lacrosse teams for North American Indigenous Games

Team B.C. coaches are seeking potential candidates to determine if a competitive male volleyball team will be viable for the next North American Indigenous Games.

To be added to the list of interested athletes, an online form at aboriginalsportbc.ca must be completed. The 2017 NAIG will be hosted in Toronto, July 16 – 23, 2017. Athlete identification camps for volleyball for Team B.C. will be taking place in late August. To be eligible, athletes must be born between 1998 to 2003 and be a B.C. resident born of Aboriginal ancestry (Canada or USA Indigenous ancestry).

Athletes will be required to provide proof of ancestry (e.g. Status Card, Métis Card, First Nations Card, Treaty Card, Inuit and Inuvialuit identification). If identification card cannot be presented, a Declaration of Aboriginal Ancestry Form can be requested.  Athletes who apply will be contacted following the deadline for more information regarding whether a team will be pursued and how to earn a roster spot.

For questions on the form, send an email to Alissa Derrick, Team B.C. coordinator at teambc@bcaafc.com or call 1-800-990-2432. The deadline is July 18 at 4 p.m. There is also one for female box lacrosse. Players must be U16 and U19. Deadline is July 18. Derrick is the same contact.
