ADSS athletes finish strong in BC track and field

School team had 15 athletes from grade 8-12 competing

ADSS track and field athletes took part in the BC Championships in Langley last week. The school team had 15 athletes from all grades 8-12.

A number of seniors competed in the tournament. Connor Sabiston finished 9th in the province in shot put. Ashley Yaredic was 10th in 100m hurdles and ran a personal best. Ayden Jager ran her best of the season in both the 400m and the 800m.

The senior girls 4×100 / 4x400relay included Lauren Ivezich, Ashley Yaredic, Ayden Jager, with grade 11s Briana Anderson and Nya Fukushima. Both relays ran personal bests. Brianna also ran the 100m hurdles.

Junior athletes were Yanick Contant in discus and javelin, Jordan Irg in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles personal best.

Kamryn McKean threw shot and javelin. McKean finished fifth in junior girls javelin.

Grade eights competing were Mackenzie Loyer in the 3000m, smashing her personal best by 28 seconds and finishing eighth.

Sam Wynans ran 100m hurdles and finished 7th with a personal best, and Jack McKean and Jolynn Dick threw javelin.

The grade eight girls 4×400 of Loyer, Mila Fukushima, Hanna Evans, and Dick then ran a 10-second personal best, finishing 11th.
