Local residents braved the cold weather to attend the first lesson of cross-country skiing at the Omineca Ski Club on Jan. 7, 2017. Instructors Doug Campbell, Gunter Hoehne and Wren Gilgan expect participants will have all the necessary skills to participate in the Lakes Loppet race, which takes place on Feb. 26, 2017.
