Port Boat House once again sponsored last Sunday’s Red White and Blue tournament for the Alberni Golf Course men’s club.
Brett Parhar led the field, scoring low gross. Mike Pechor, Jim Proteau, Cory Nielson and Preban Rasmussen followed in that order.
Vic Carlton grabbed low net followed by Mel Trilvik, Massami Hirayama, John Panagrot and Trevor Konchek.
Brett Parhar won the long drive on No. 5. Closest to the pin with his second shot on No. 6 was Clint Wilson. The hidden hole was No. 16 and nobody claimed that prize, so next Sunday there will be a carryover of $136.
Closest to the pin winners were John Panagrot on No. 2, Bill Barrett No. 4, Tyler Ruel No. 13 and Preban Rasmussen on No. 17. A plus for Bill Barrett was collecting $41 for the charity hole No. 4.
Next Saturday and Sunday, the West Coast Amateur will be contested. If you want to enter, get your entry in now. As usual this will be a great show.
The next Stableford event is scheduled for this coming Monday, June 18. This event is open to both men and women. Cost is still $20.
A shotgun start is slated for 8:30 a.m., although earlybirds may tee off earlier.
If you compile 36 points (right around your handicap) you will win $35 to be added to the club card you received when you paid your dues. Guests will receive cash.
The more points you rack up, the more money you can win.
No matter how you score, be sure to turn your scorecard in as there will be several draws each day. There will also be closest to the pin prizes of sleeves of balls: No. 2 will be for men with a handicap of 15 or higher, No. 4 will be for all women, No. 13 for men with handicaps lower than 15 and No. 17 will be for all competitors. The cost remains the same at $20.
