Alberni Golf: Pins, skins and wins for men at AGC

The 'people's pro' Gerry Fagan has the scoop on Alberni Golf.

Another Men’s Club Sunday is in the books for Alberni Golf Course.

The low gross for the day was Vito Caldarulo with an impressive 73. Great game, Vito. The low net in the low handicap division was old lefty himself, Keith Gauthier, with a smooth 65. In the high handicap division it was Cal Davies on top, shooting a 69.

The closest to the pin winners were: Cal Davies on No. 2, Glen Trask had the charity closest to the pin on No. 4 (taking home $30) and Sam Parhar won both No. 13 and No. 17. Parhar also  won $50 for the only birdie on No. 17; the rest of the par 3’s were halved.

In the skins competition there is only No. 16 left in the low handicap division. There was no winner on Sunday, which means the carry over for next week will be worth $135.

In the high handicap division, No. 7 was won by Dave Mann, with Wolf Suhr winning No. 8, Mann again taking No. 9, Don MacGowan capturing No. 15 and finally Phil Anker winning the skin on No. 18.

Next week is another open day with the usual money pot, closest to the pin and skins competition up for grabs. Be sure to book you tee time starting at 7 a.m.

The  following Sunday, May 25 will be our first scramble of the season, with Twin Travel and Cruises hosting the event. There will be a hole-in-one prize on No. 2. More about that next week.
