The Aldergrove Kodiaks came out ahead in game five of the PJHL regular season, with a 6-4 score over the visiting Port Moody Panthers.
The Kodiaks were down 2-1 at the start of the second period but evened it up to 3-3 at the start of the third. They took three more goals in the third period for the win.
It was a good night for Kodiaks’ Kurt Klimek who was the game’s first star for his three points, with two goals and an assist. Klimek scored in the first period, with an assist from Jacob De Waal.
Kodiaks’ Cameron Davitt scored on a power play in the second, assisted by De Waal and Ty Pickering, and De Waal had the period’s other goal, assisted by Klimek and Kyle Bosko.
Scoring for the Kodiaks in the third were Davitt on another power play, Klimek on a power play and Erik Bocale. Assists came from Quinncy Leroux, Bocale and Elijah Vilio, and Bosko.
Davitt and De Waal were the game’s second and third stars, respectively.
The Kodiaks outshot the Panthers 49-30 and scored on three of six power plays, while the Panthers failed to get the back of the net on all three power plays.
Kodiaks’ keeper Dawson Rodin stopped 26 shots that night.
The result leaves the Kodiaks atop their division with eight points after five games (4-1-0-0). Ridge Meadows and Abbotsford follow at six points each after four games, and Mission with five points. Surrey trails at zero after five games.
The Kodiaks travel to North Vancouver to play the Wolf Pack on Saturday evening and host the Mission City Outlaws on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 7:15 p.m. at Aldergrove Arena.
