Aldergrove Kodiaks shot down Pilots 6-4

Kodiak captain Matt Oliver had a four-point night and 6-4 win against Abbotsford Pilots, Sept. 13

It was an outstanding night for Aldergrove Kodiaks captain Matt Oliver, with four points and the game’s first star in 6-4 win over Abbotsford PIlots, Set. 13.

The Kodiaks took the lead midway through the first period with a goal from Tyler Cannon, assisted by Oliver.

The Pilots evened it up on a power play late the period, and briefly took a 2-1 lead seconds into the second period.

However, the Kodiaks scored three more to end the period up 4-2. Scoring for Aldergrove were David Padgham (on power play), Clayton Schroeder (unassisted on power play) and Kyle Bosko. Assists came from Jake Dowell, Oliver (2), and Cannon.

The third period was a saw-off, with both teams scoring a pair for the end result of 6-4. Kodiak John Lee scored first in the third period on a power play, assisted by Schroeder, and the Pilots scored a pair before Kodiak Oliver scored an empty-netter in the dying seconds of the period.

The Kodiaks outshot the Pilots in every period for a game tota of 41 over 26 for the Pilots.

Oliver and Cannon were the game’s first and second stars, respectively.

The Kodiaks now stand at two wins, one loss in three regular season games. They next play the Ridge Meadows Flames, Wednesday, Sept. 20, 7:15 p.m. at Aldergrove Arena.
