Las Vegas may have an NHL team now, but it was a Nelson squad that lifted a hockey trophy in Sin City earlier this month.

The Nelson Amigos 45-plus men’s team defeated the Moberly Lakers 7-2 to win the Lefty Wilson Division tournament, which ran April 6 to 9.

The Amigos opened the event with a 9-8 win against the Lakers, who were a combined team from Northern Alberta and Northern B.C. Nelson then beat the Toros from Milton, Ont., 5-1 before downing the Saskatoon Mooseknuckles 4-1 in the final round-robin game.
