Oceanside Generals general manager Andrew Riddell will not return to his post with the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League club next season.
The team announced Riddell has accepted a promotion with his full-time employer and will pursue opportunities with his career outside of hockey.
The 36-year-old Nanaimo product joined the Generals three years ago, first as an assistant coach, before becoming GM. He became an integral component of the organization, aiding with development of the young players on and off the ice.

“Andrew has helped put together one of the most exciting teams Oceanside has ever seen over the past decade,” the club stated in a press release. “His leadership has helped us grow as a franchise and to become one of the most respected teams in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League.”
Riddell played in the B.C. Junior Hockey League, suiting up for the Cowichan Valley Capitals, Alberni Valley Bullodgs and Powell River Kings before moving on to NCAA college action with New England College in New Hampshire.
The Generals wished Riddell all the best in the future and indicated they will soon announce a replacement.
