Winning is becoming  habit for the Kelowna tier 3 Rockets.

The Rockets won their second straight title, capturing the Osoyoos midget tournament last weekend.

Kelowna, which has lost just once in the last 13 games, defeated Salmon Arm 5-4 in overtime in Sunday’s final.

Curtis Magas, with an assist to Linden McKinney, scored on a breakaway during the 4-on-4 sudden death.

Other scorers in the final were Tate Stephens, Brenden Witala, Garrett Hodgkinson and Landon Gran with assists by Scott Freeman, Tye Boray, Matt Welsh, Keaton Brownlee, Gran, Witala, and Koby Turik.

“The kids are playing outstanding hockey at this stage of the year where they have gone 11-1-1 in their last 13 games which includes two tournament victories,” said Rockets coach Kevin Brownlee. “They are playing a very disciplined game, using their speed and skill to stifle their opponents. They are definitely playing and executing ahead of the plan that the coaches set out for them from the beginning of the season.”

Kelowna opened with a 7-1 win over Summerland, tied Merritt 2-2 despite getting 67 shots, and downed Castelgar 5-2.
