The Williams Lake Sportsmen’s Association Clubhouse played host to archers from throughout the region Saturday and Sunday for its annual Outdoor Flatfield 3D Shoot.
Throughout the weekend, roughly 65 archers were moving through the 15-target round, busy tallying their scores throughout while briving wind, rain and snow on Saturday, followed by a gorgeous, sunny day Sunday.
Archers from Kamloops, 100 MIle House, Quesnel, Vanderhoof and Williams Lake competed.
Cariboo Archer Al Campsall, who was busy judging the action and also competing, said it’s a great weekend for the whole family. Archers of all ages were able to take part in the event.
“We want to thank the community for its support,” he said.
“It’s a lot of fun for the whole family, this kind of shoot. It can be as difficult or as easy as you want for this kind of shoot.”
Results from the Cariboo Archers were as follows:
• Cadet Compound: Ty Thurow (first)
• Cub Compound Female: Alexis McComber (first)
• Cub Compond Male: Ty Waterhouse (first), Caleb Albisser (second), Ryan Albisser (third)
• Pre-Cub Compound Female: Joelle Thurow (first)
• Peeweee Female: Freja Pare (first)
• Ladies Barebow: Melanie McComber (first)
• Longbow Female: Jessie Mobbs (first), Sharon Allan (second)
• Compound Fixed Pins: Lee Jackman (first), Adam Lyons (third)
• Compound Unlimited Male: Lee Jackman (first)
• Instinctive Male: Fred Streleoff (first), Dan Mobbs (second)
• Masters 50 Traditional: David Corless (second)
• Masters Compound: Al Campsall (first)
Jackman was able to clinch the victory in both the compound fixed pin and compound unlimited divisions because each 15-target round was shot and judged separately.
Not only did he win both, but also posted the top two tournament scores overall.
Streleoff, meanwhile, also won the traditional spot shoot shoot-off both Saturday and Sunday, while Campsall shared the compound spot money Sunday.
Coming up, a number of Cariboo Archers — Bob Thurow, Ty Thurow, Joelle Thurow, Ty Waterhouse, Ernie Schmid, Fred Streleoff, Dan Mobbs, Jessie Mobbs and Al Campsall — are off to Sundre, Alberta this coming weekend for the Canadian Indoor 3D Championships.
