Armstrong Shamrocks outlast Rattlers

Armstrong Shamrocks ground the host Kamloops Rattlers 11-9 in Senior C men's lacrosse action Tuesday night at Memorial Arena.

Steve Clark collected four goals as the Armstrong Shamrocks shaded the host Kamloops Rattlers in Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League action Tuesday night at Memorial Arena.

The Shamrocks, now 5-5, raced out to a 6-2 first-period lead and led 9-3 after 40 minutes. Kamloops, who dipped to 6-4, stormed back with six goals in the final frame.

Junior call-up Nathan Marcetta added to the Irish attack with a goal in each period, with other offence coming from Jamie Cockrill (2), Dan Giger and Brent Anderson.

Natham Woldum, Mark Jurista and AJ Lockwood each had a pair for the Rattlers, singles going to Travis Joseph, Lee Black and JJ Woldum.

Chad Pieper backstopped Armstrong with a 50-save showing, and added an assist. Eric Thompson made 18 stops in the loss.

Armstrong hosts the Kelowna Raiders () Friday night, while the Vernon Tigers are in Kamloops to face the Rattlers.

In Junior B lacrosse action, the Vernon Re/Max Tigers (6-5-1) will look for their fifth straight win as they entertain the Kelowna Raiders (4-8-1) tonight at Wesbild Centre. They host the first-place Kamloops Venom (10-0-1) Saturday at Wesbild.

Meanwhile, the Baby Shamrocks (4-8-1) are in Kelowna Thursday night.
