The Okanagan Athletics perhaps deserved better, but came up empty against the B.C. Premier League’s top team in a four-game series at Elks Stadium.
The Langley Blaze swept a pair of doubleheaders from the A’s, including a pair of close, one-run games on Saturday afternoon.
In the opener, Kyle Ross spun a one-hitter and struck out 12 as the Blaze scored a 1-0 win.
Easton Forrest tossed a complete game eight-hitter for Okanagan, with the only run being unearned in the top of the first inning.
In Game 2, Langley scored once in the top of the seventh to squeeze out a 4-3 victory.
On Sunday, the A’s didn’t offer the same resistance, as Langley won 8-3 and 5-0.
Okanagan managed just 17 hits in the four games.
The Blaze now lead the BCPBL with a 10-1 record, while the Athletics are 4-6.
This coming weekend, the A’s will travel to Coquitlam for four games against the Reds.
Junior A’s split…
The Athletics bounced back from an 0-4 start to the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League season to earn a split of four games against the Vancouver Cannons on Saturday at Edith Gay Park.
Okanagan picked up a pair of wins Saturday, 5-4 and 8-6, as Brandon Ludwig and Hayden Bennett earned the decisions.
On Sunday, the Cannons rebounded with wins of 15-8 and 9-7.
Ludwig paced the A’s offensive attack on the weekend with seven hits and nine RBIs.
This weekend, the Athletics (2-6) will be in Surrey to take on the White Rock Tritons.
Bantam A’s…
The Okanagan Athletics will be home for four games this weekend in B.C. Bantam AAA Baseball League action.
On Saturday at Edith Gay, the A’s will host Burnaby for two games, followed by a doubleheader Sunday against the Vancouver Mounties.
Okanagan (2-10) came close in two games, but went 0-for-4 last weekend on the road, losing twice to Cloverdale and twice to White Rock.
