Third-year College of the Rockies Avalanche left side hitter Alex Koshman was honoured by the PACWEST as the league’s ‘Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week’ after leading the team to back-to-back victories against the Camosun Chargers over the weekend.
Koshman, who started the year as a libero and has transitioned into a power hitter, led the Avs with 29 digs and also put up an impressive 25 kills in the two matches.
On Friday night alone, Koshman had 14 digs, 16 kills, two blocks and an ace. She finished the weekend with a tremendous 50.84% kill efficiency.
Since moving to left side full-time on November 24, Koshman has put up 92 kills in eight matches, an average of 11.5 kills per match and 2.78 kills per set.
Despite not being a defensive specialist anymore, her dig totals are still reliable with 108 in the last eight matches, an average of 3.27 per set.
The Avs have picked up the ‘Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week’ title for two straight weeks, with Adriel Goodman having earned the honour last week for her play against VIU.
