A 7-5 loss to New Brunswick’s Terry Odishaw Thursday afternoon in Saskatoon officially ended the 2012 Brier hopes of B.C.’s Jim Cotter.
The defeat dropped the Kelowna/Vernon rink’s record to 4-and-6, and pushed them out of playoff contention at the Canadian men’s curling championship.
B.C. lost again on Thursday night, 8-3 to Jamie Koe of the Territories, to close out the Brier with a 4-7 record.
It was a hot-and-cold week—mostly cold—for the B.C. champs who opened the national championship with two losses, reeled off four straight wins, and then lost five in a row.
Cotter, third Kevin Folk, second Ty Griffith and lead Rick Sawatsky will wrap up their play at the Brier on Thursday night against Jamie Koe of the Territories.
The 2012 Brier was a homecoming of sorts for two members of the B.C. rink. Kevin Folk and his dad and B.C. coach, Rick Folk, are both originally from Saskatoon. Rick won a Brier and world championship curling out of Saskatoon in 1980. Kevin moved from Saskatoon to Kelowna with his family in 1988.
