Bantam Rep Generals unbeaten

Oceanside’s Bantam Rep Generals ran the table on their regular season Saturday by way of a hard-fought 3-3 tie against Cowichan.

Oceanside’s Bantam Rep Generals ran the table on their regular season Saturday by way of a hard-fought 3-3 tie against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

It was the Generals’ final regular season game and left them unbeaten with a record of 10-0-1 and top of the heap in the seven-team Tier 3 standings.

Landon Dziadyk opened the scoring Saturday 10 minutes in on a breakaway. Oceanside led 2-0 after the first period and were up 3-2 with four minutes left in the game. There is no overtime in regular season play. Austin Hykaway and Owen McDonald rounded out the scoring.

Also earning props for their play on the back end were D-men Taylor Olson, Nick McAleer and Nick Kosteckj.

WIth the regular season in the can the team now turns its attention to the upcoming playoffs which will see them in the mix alongside Tier 2 teams.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Oceanside coach Don Svensen said of the challenge ahead, adding his team beat Juan de Fuca in a tournament earlier this year “and they ended up winning the Tier 2 division, so any given day we can play well . . . ”

ON SUNDAY they came back from a goal down to beat Nanaimo 6-3 in exhibition action. Goalie Isaac Stevens and Blayre Paddock were both solid and split the duties in net on the weekend.

 

GAME ON

The Bantam Reps are awaiting the release of their playoff schedule, which could begin as early as this week.
