The Ridge Meadows Royals bantam AAA baseball team eked out a 2-1 victory over the Tri-City Indians on Tuesday under the sunny skies of Pitt Meadows Athletic Park, improving to 19-8-1 in B.C. bantam AAA baseball league play, good for third place.
The Royals batters didn’t have their usual offensive punch on this day, while at least two rallies were cut short by unfavorable calls on the bases and one botched suicide squeeze.
Brendan Halstrom had an RBI with a laser up the middle, while Ben Stadnik hit a triple off the right field fence.
Royals pitching was stellar again with Graham Bailey picking up his eighth victory of the season. Kole Benard came in and was nothing short of spectacular over his 2 innings of work, fanning five Indian batters in the process. Andre Pelletier came in and worked a clean seventh inning to record the save.
The Royals travel to Vancouver Island this weekend to take on the Victoria Juniors.
The Royals are 32-12-4 in all games this season, and have lost just two of their last 19 games.
