The season ended on the Feb. 1 weekend for the Scotiabank Tier 2 Bantam Silvertips.
Friday evening they entered the first of a best- of-three game playoff series and Salmon Arm ended up on the wrong end of a 3-1 loss to Kamloops at McArthur Island Arena.
The lone goal was scored by Matthew Dolinar as the boys gave a good effort and received strong goaltending from Ryan Freed.
Saturday on home ice was their last chance to extend the series to a third game and all was going well into the third period as they found themselves tied up at three goals apiece with scoring coming from Jason Herd, Evan Hughes and Trent Thompson.
The Silvertips fought their way back from a 2-0 second period deficit and had the momentum late in the third period but a couple of costly giveaways deep in their zone were their demise.
The final score in this hard fought battle was 5-3 for Kamloops, sending the hometown boys out of the OMAHA playoffs.
The team will continue to play exhibition games until the middle of March to close out the season before most players start spring sports.
It is important to thank everyone involved for the past season from the coaching staff to their sponsor for their support.
Thanks also goes out to all the parents for their voluntary efforts and, most importantly, the players who, throughout all their games, practices, wins and losses kept their heads up and represented Salmon Arm in a very professional manner.
