The regular season came to a close last weekend for the Bantam Tier 2 Silvertips with a pair of thrilling last-minute finishes. In a home game on Friday night, Salmon Arm took on the Kamloops Junior Blazers. The Silvertips jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Tristan Ferguson and Tyler Collins but gave the lead back by the end of the second period. A goal by Bobby Jeffries put Salmon Arm up 3-2 with a minute left but Kamloops, with their net empty, scored with just seconds remaining to secure a 3-3 draw. On Saturday the Silvertips reversed their fortunes in Kelowna against the Rockets. Kelowna held a 3-2 lead late in the third period when head coach Terrance Head pulled his goalie for a sixth attacker. Austin Pugh scored with just over a minute left to play to tie up the game.
With the goalie back in the net, Salmon Arm completed the comeback as Zach Fournier scored just 22 seconds later to give the ’Tips the victory.
The Silvertips now head to the first round of the playoffs against Kamloops.
