SURREY — The Whalley Junior Chiefs are BCJPBL provincial champions.
Coached by Stephen Chatzispiros (Chatz), the win marks the first time the Junior Chiefs have won the baseball banner.
Three of the Chiefs – Ethan Gray, Justin Olic and Stephen Horner – went on to win gold with Team B.C. in the Western Canada Summer Games, which just wrapped up in Wood Buffalo, Alta.
Team B.C. finished that tourney with a 5-1 record, beating Team Saskatchewan 7-3 in the gold medal game.
