The Abbotsford 2016 BC Summer Games ceremonies team is looking for local dance talent.

Games organizers are calling for a wide variety of age groups, talents and styles for its next audition on Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the WJ Mouat Secondary School theatre.

Dancers will be performing at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games.

Officials are seeking:

Junior dancers from ages 10 to 18 – junior competitors must be aged 10 by Jan. 16, and will be taught a short piece of choreography with an opportunity for freestyle which will then be performed for a panel of judges.

Adult dancers aged 19 and up (any dance level) – Audition participants will also be taught a short piece of choreography, again with an opportunity for freestyle that will be performed for a panel of judges.

Dance groups (all ages & all styles) – The group needs to have a minimum of three years dance experience. The dance group should have a short piece of choreography prepared that is no longer than three minutes to perform for the panel of judges. Music should be ready on an iPod/mp3/CD.

Specialty acts of all kinds – Should be no longer than three minutes to perform for the panel of judges. Music should be ready on an iPod/mp3/CD.

An RSVP is required to attend this audition. Organizers urge all interested to send their information to entertainmentadmin@bcsummergames.ca by Jan. 14 to receive an audition time slot.

Participants are asked to bring one piece of identification with birth date at the time of registration. All participants under the age of 19 must have the volunteer registration form signed by a legal guardian in order to proceed with auditioning.

Parents can drop off and pick up their children at a specific time that will be given at the registration desk. There will be supervision for the dancers while they are at the auditions. Parents are not permitted in the audition area.
