BCHL: Alberni Bulldogs drop 5-1 contest to Wenatchee Wild

Sam Morton scored four goals for the visitors as the Wenatchee Wild bested host Alberni Valley Bulldogs 5–1 in a BC Hockey League game in Port Alberni, Saturday night.

Morton opened scoring for the game a 2:37 of the first period. Bulldogs’ Keaton Mastrodonato tied up the contest 1–1 at 8:16 of the second period, but Morton scored the winning goal at 10:54, putting Wenatchee up 2–1. He completed a natural hattrick with goals at 7:37 and 15:05 of the third period. Jasper Weatherby scored an empty-netter at 19:25.

The Wild’s Matt Dorsey and Alberni’s Spencer Hora were both ejected for fighting at 18:53 of the second period.

The Bulldogs are on the road for Family Day Monday (Feb. 12), with a 2 p.m. faceoff in Powell River against the Kings.

ICE CHIPS…The Bulldogs announced on their Facebook page Saturday night that they have made the playoffs…Attendance was 1,293 at Saturday’s game, which beats October’s highest attendance of 1,205 when Prince George Spruce Kings were the visitors…Visit Boston Pizza on Monday and you’ll be able to watch the Bulldogs’ game in Powell River, or listen to the play-by-play with Evan “Hammer” Hammond at 93.3 The PEAK FM… The Bulldogs are back in town on Saturday, Feb. 17.
