A pair of officials who honed their skills in the BCHL are working the biggest stage possible, the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup final.
Referee Steve Kozari and linesman Shane Heyer, both natives of Penticton, are officiating games between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings.
“It goes to show that the BCHL is a great place for officials to start out and go through the development needed to get to the next level,” said BCHL director of officiating Derek Adams. “The guys working in the league today know they’re being watched by evaluators from higher levels of hockey and that they could one day be one of the officials working in the NHL.”
