Beach volleyball coming soon

Sure sign the fun-in-the-sun season is approaching

A reminder to local beach volleyball players the season’s first session of league play is fast approaching, and with a cap on the amount of teams it’s best to get in on the early registraion.

Played at the Parksville Community Park sand courts, the adult co-ed triples league runs Wednesdays from 6:30 – 9 p.m. (ish) starting May 8. The league runs for eight weeks and cost is $50 per person. As always the adult session is followed by a social at the Rod andGun.

“We already have close to 40 teams registered without our annual e-mail sent out so do not wait to register,” said longtime local beach booster and decorated VIU Women’s volleyball coach Shane Hyde.

For those players looking for a pre-season tuneup, there is a skills clinic slated for the beach courts at Parksville Community Park Sunday May 5th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for a cost of $30.

The youth league gets underway May 7 at 6:30 p.m. and will feature a youth doubles division for athletes aged 12-18. Cost is $60 per person.

Both leagues had over 70 teams for the 4th year in a row last year, and as such “we had a wait-list and were forced to send teams away, so register early,” said Hyde.
