A Thompson-Okanagan (Zone 2) beach volleyball duo have set their sights on the BC Summer Games and beyond.

Ty Moorman of Penticton and Tanner Johnson of Kaleden picked up a win Saturday morning on a beautiful sunny day at South Surrey Athletic Park.

Although this is Johnson’s first experience at the Summer Games, Moorman has attended previously for indoor volleyball where his team captured silver.

The two have been making the 45-minute drive to Kelowna for practice but say it’s worth the time to work with coaches Tammy Thomas and Paul Mend.

The pair intends to continue to Provincials and Nationals.

No matter the level of experience or competition, they agreed that to be successful at any sport, time and effort is necessary.

Johnson summed it up with, “Just do it.”

Moorman added, “If you want something you have to push to get it. It’s not going to be given to you. Work hard.”
