Grade 12 running back scores touchdown as Team Yamaoka defeats Team Beatty in annual high school football showcase

Mt. Boucherie’s Brock Zeleniski was named the offensive MVP at the 2015 edition of high school football’s Senior Bowl Game.

The 5-foot-9, 160-pound running back scored a touchdown to help Team Yamaoka defeat Team Beatty 22-7 in the annual showcase of Grade 12 players on Saturday in Langley.

The coaches for teams were Okanagan Sun head man Shane Beatty and Kamloops Broncos’ coach Brad Yamaoka.

Also scoring a touchdown for the winning side was Cory McCoy, who caught a pass for a major from Mihai Lapuste of the Handsworth Royals.

Zeleniski was also named the most improved running back during the senior bowl camp and through to the end of the game.

Mt. Boucherie teammate Scott Carter was named the top practise player.

The annual Senior Bowl camp is by invitation, featuring the top amateur football players in the province that will be graduating from high school in June 2015.

Also taking part from the Central Okanagan was Boucherie’s Dawson Bergevin, Mackenzie Johnson and Aidan Zimmer.
