Fourteen teams made up of more than 55 people gathered at Blackburn Park on Sunday to Beat The Train

Fourteen teams made up of more than 55 people gathered at Blackburn Park on Sunday to Beat The Train, the annual event that combines 35 kilometres of biking, a 10-km run and wraps up with eight kilometres of paddling.

Participants cycle to the Silver Creek Store and back, run from Blackburn Park to Canoe, and paddle from Canoe to Marine Park.

The winning team in the Dragon Boat/Outrigger event was U Wanna Kumana made up of cyclist Peter McLean, runner Brian May, and paddlers Cary Lentz, Karin Crouch, Randy Brooks, Michele Brooks, David Forrester and Bill Grainger.

The Open Men competition was won by the father and son team of David Wallenstein and Trevor Wallenstein. David cycled, Trevor ran, and both paddled.

BDO won first place in the Corporate competition. Their team consisted of cyclist and runner John White, with paddlers Cory Neil and Jeff Johnson.

The first place winner in the Mixed Competition was Call Me Maybe, a team comprised of cyclist Soraya Jung, runner Mathias Muller and paddler Shane Vandewater.

Sam Lazar won the Solo division.
