The host Bend Elks used two big innings to claim their first West Coast League baseball championship by knocking off the Kelowna Falcons 10-4 Monday night at Vince Genna Stadium.

The Falcons scored a pair of runs early, getting one in the first on three straight hits, including a Ben Gamba RBI-single, and another in the third when Gamba once again doubled down the line to score Grant Meylan.

The Elks celebrated their first championship on the field before the power went out in the area, leaving both teams and 2,500 fans in the dark.

Bend bounced the Falcons 13-8 in the series opener Saturday night at Elks Stadium in Kelowna.
