Zac Benn cracks club records as Vernon Kokanee compete at Chinook Invitational at the Talisman Centre in Calgary.

Zac Benn cracked a trio of long course club records as the Vernon Kokanee competed at the Chinook Invitational last weekend at the Talisman Centre in Calgary.

Competing in the Boys 12 division, Benn set new benchmarks in the 100- and 200-metre butterfly, finishing in one minute, 8.65 seconds and 2:33.79 respectively. His third record was in the 200 IM (3:35.82).

He added first-place finishes in the 400 Free (5:12.99), 100 Free (1:05.23) and 100 Back (1:14.53) to make it a golden sixpack.

A total of 33 Kokanee competed against 10 western Canadian clubs in Calgary, with other results as follows:

Under 10 Girls – Cameron Shortt won gold in the 100 fly in 1:40.37.

Boys 11 Braden Kersey came third in the 200 IM (3:04.70).

Girls 11 – Sydney Fillion won gold in the 50 (42.72) and 100 breaststroke (1:33.22), and bronze in the 200 breast (3:21.30); Morgan Mardiros struck silver in the 100 (1:36.89) and 200 breast (3:16.94).

Girls 12 – Erin Brown was golden in the 200 fly (3:24.80) and added bronze in the 400 freestyle (5:28.28); Jordyn Ross pocketed silver in the 100 breast (1:32.65); and Alexandra Shortt won silver in the 200 fly (3:31.69).

U14 Boys – Regan Peace earned gold in the 200 backstroke (2:34.98) and bronze in the 100 back (1:12.62).

Over 15 Boys – Paul Czerwonka collected bronze in the 100 back (1:13.68); Taylor Dalke took gold in the 200 IM (2:22.80), silver in the 50 free (26.52) and 200 back (2:23.08), and bronze in the 200 breast (2:50.86); Florian Terpstra was runner-up in the 100 breast (1:15.70) and 100 back (1:05.61) and added bronze in the 100 fly (1:03.72); Wouter Terpstra took gold in the 200 fly (2:11.91), silver in the 50 fly (27.68), 200 free (2:05.83) and 100 fly (59.48), and was third in the 50 breast (34.45).

Kokanee improving in each of their events include: Avril Baldauf, Abbey Bartel, Benn, Brown, Sydney Fillion, Jenika King, Mardiros, Emily Mohamed Martone, Peace, Jeffrey Schmidt, Anika Kintzel,  Cameron Shortt, Samantha Shortt and Alexandra Shortt.
