Bennison banks provincial gold

Hannah Bennison records gold in the 3,000m race at the B.C. Athletics Cross-Country Championships in Abbotsford.

Vernon’s Hannah Bennison struck gold in the 15-year-old girls 3,000-metre race Saturday at the B.C. Athletics Cross-Country Championships in Abbotsford.

Bennison, a VSS student who trains with Okanagan Athletics, completed the two-loop course at Clearbrook Park in nine minutes and 37 seconds.

The Clearbrook Park course featured a hill in the middle, and Bennison used it to her advantage, attacking the upside and letting her legs freewheel going down.

Bennison is competing in the B.C. High School Cross-Country Championships Saturday in Victoria.
