Bennison top Grade 8

Salmon Arm hosts North Zone cross country race Wednesday afternoon.

Hanna Bennison of the Vernon Panthers clocked fifth overall in the girls division at the Salmon Arm Jewels/Golds North Zone cross country race Wednesday at Little Mountain Field.

Bennison, the top Grade 8 finisher, completed the 3.5-kilometre loop in 17 minutes and 24 seconds.

The Sim girls, Glynnis (15:45) and Emmy (16:10), finished one-two, followed by Revelstoke’s Megan Evans in third with a 16:21.

The Panthers’ Natalie Johnston (17:42) was sixth overall and third in the senior class, Cathou Bauml (19:46) was seventh and Melanie Wakutz (20:16) was ninth.

Ravi Vliet of the Pleasant Valley Saints (18:39) was eighth in the juniors and Jenica Camalush of the Cats (18:56) was 10th.

On the boys 5.5-km course, Keith Ingbrigtson of VSS ran a 24:08 to finish second behind Salmon Arm’s Thomas Hardy (22:15). The Panthers’ Connor Johnston was third overall and the top Grade 8 in 24:11. Teammate Sam Eggert was the second Grade 8 finisher in 26:36, and Fulton’s Kyle Karens was fourth in 30:05.

Joey Kohut of the Fulton Maroons recorded a 25:08 for fourth in the junior division. He was followed by Liam McGrant (25:37) and Eamonn Miller (26:31), both of the Seaton Sonics, who ranked fifth and seventh respectively.

The Panthers’ Eric Byram was 11th in the senior group with a 25:18.
