Hubby often reminds me that “it isn’t all about you”. But Tuesday night, June 6, 41 Ladies Night golfers sure made me feel that it was.
I have a big birthday coming up (the actual day has come and gone by the time you read this) and the ladies treated me to balloons, gifts, birthday cake, and flowers. Birthday wishes and hugs abounded. It left me feeling very honoured and loved. Thank you for making my birthday week so special.
And now for the part that wasn’t about me….the golfing. Cindy Leibel scored a 45 to pick up low gross for Flight One while Karen Peterson scored a 47 (34) to win low net. Trudy Forsythe was the sweet instigator of the birthday shenanigans and for that she was rewarded with low gross in Flight 2 with a score of 47. Vicki Hoffer scored a 48 (33) to win low net. Flight 3 low gross was won by Audrey Rilcoe with a 51 and Doreen Landry scored 54 (34.5) to win low net. First low gross in Flight 4 was Terry Blaeser (51) and second was Marilyn Ransome (57). Lois McInnis and Linda Ransome scored birdies to split that pot while the deuce pot continues to be unclaimed. Linda Ransome had an awesome round with her putter. She only used it 12 times to pick up the least putt prize while Alice Uppenborn took the most putt prize with 25.
KP prizes were picked up this week by Karen Peterson, Susan Newberry, Val Williams, Deb Winiski, Trudy Forsythe and Ashley Salle. Long drive prizes went to Cindy Leibel, Susan Bondar, Leslie Stirling, and Deb Winiski. The dubious short drive honour went to Irene Beeton. Long putts earned prizes for Brenda Oakland, Susan Newberry, Leslie Stirling, Stacey Gartner, Irene Beeton and Vicki Hoffer. Vicki Hoffer and Deb Winiski landed closest to the 150 marker on Hole 8 to take home a prize while Lois McInnis scored a KP in 2 on Hole 7. Darlene Nickull won the accuracy prize for landing closest to the line drawn on the Hole 3 fairway.
Sponsors of the week are the Station House Restaurant, Val Enochsen at Val Bella Studio and North Thompson Funeral Services who sponsor the Rest in Peace prize. A drum roll and big round of applause please to show our appreciation.
Speaking of birthdays Barb Smith reminded me of a trip we took one June with the guides and pathfinders when we were Guiders. We stopped at a park along the way and had a big picnic lunch. Barb had brought cake to celebrate two birthdays and an anniversary. Sylvia Chivers and Bev Anderson – I hope you remember that trip. Happy Birthday to Sylvia and Happy Anniversary to Bev and Bobby Anderson.
