After watching their one-goal lead disappear with minutes to go in the third period, the Quesnel Millionaires pulled out a 4-3 win overtime win against the Westside Warriors when Chris Blessing roofed a wrist shot from the face-off circle at the 1:29 mark of the second overtime period.
The win gives the Mills a five-point lead over the Prince George Spruce Kings in the race for the last playoff spot with just three games remaining in the regular season.
The Mills had taken a 3-2 lead into the third period thanks to a goal by Chris Albee midway through the second period. Albee, the trailer on the play, made no mistake with a pass from Malcolm Gould, going stick-side on Warriors netminder Cole Holowenko.
Westside tied the game at the 17:41 mark of the third period when Quinn Gould jammed home a loose puck in a crowd in front of Mills netminder Bryton Udy.
Udy, starting following a disappointing start the night before against the Penticton Vees, was named the first star of the game for stopping 39 of 42 shots, including a diving save in the first overtime period that had the crowd gasping in amazement.
