The summer swim season gets underway in May, and under the guidance of returning coaches Drew Kuhnert and Kyle Brush, the Comox Valley Blue Devils are looking to build on last year’s successful season.
A former national level swimmer, Kuhnert is completing his third year at Queen’s School of Business. He began swimming with the Blue Devils at a very young age, experiencing success at the provincial level, before moving to the Comox Valley Aquatic Club (the Sharks), where he swam on the national stage.
Brush, who is completing his third year in Bio-Physics at Simon Fraser University, is also a former Blue Devils and Sharks swimmer. He experienced much success at the provincial level and also swam with the SFU swim team.
Rob Webb, the Blue Devils president, stated, “We are really excited to have both Drew and Kyle back. They are strong technically which challenges our senior swimmers, but have a wonderful ability to relate to our younger swimmers and instil in them a love for swimming.”
The Blue Devils Swim Club is open to children aged four to 18, and offers a variety of programs from Little Devils for those aged four to eight just starting out, to Development for those wishing to improve their strokes, to the Junior and Senior competitive programs.
Emphasis is on skill development within a fun, supportive environment. Little Devils and Development offer a very low coach-to-swimmer ratio, which enables swimmers to progress at a much faster rate.
One of B.C.’s oldest swim clubs, the Blue Devils have provided thousands of Comox Valley youth with fitness, friendship, competition and enjoyment since 1948. The Blue Devils cater to all swimmers, providing excellent coaching and enabling every swimmer to develop to the full potential of their individual interest.
