The Williams Lake Blue Fins swam up a storm at the Prince George Fall Invitational Swim Meet during the weekend with some great swims, said head coach Chad Webb.
“Twenty-six of our swimmers took to the Prince George pool to compete against the best in the north,” Webb said.
“The relays were a highlight as three different 11- and 12-year-old girls’ relays competed and finished first, sixth and eighth.”
Taylor Fitzgerald, Abby Webb, Cristelle Panida, Maya Nowotny and Gabrielle Knox swam the medley and free relays crushing six-year-old club records in both.
Iknoop Bassi and Evie MacDougall, meanwhile, performed well for their first away meet and added to a pair of relay top finishes, as well.
Webb said Quinten Silver and Morgan Langford were named swimmers of the meet by their coaches for their outstanding performances and improvements in their times.
“Quinten also achieved his first ‘AAA’ provincial time in the 200-metre butterfly,” he said.
Abby cleaned up in the girls 11-year-old category with first-place wins in nine out of her 10 races.
Panida was hot on her trail with five firsts and five second places, and was the only swimmer to beat Abby in one race. Both were top aggregate winners.
Andrew Haseldine also brought home an aggregate as he placed first in two events, second in two events, third in one event and fourth in three races.
Fitzgerald narrowly missed an aggregate title placing second in three events, third in four events and fourth in one event.
Knox and Keanna Saunders also took home some impressive results placing second and third in the majority of their events.
The Blue Fins are now getting ready for their fun meet for the club’s younger swimmers on Dec. 4 at the Sam Ketcham Memorial Pool, while the competitive group will get back to training in anticipation of the Kamloops meet from Dec. 9-11.
